22nd Research Cooperation Meeting Salzgitter AG and POSCO

As part of the joint research cooperation, the South Korean steel manufacturer POSCO and the team from Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH and Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH met in Salzgitter on June 20, 2024.

The cooperation partners have been working together for many years in the field of basic research on steel production technologies in the areas of theoretical analysis and experiments, scientific-technical trials and practical applications, including the experimental production and testing of prototypes, methods, innovative processes and test materials.

The common goal of these pre-competitive activities is the long-term further development for the preparation of corresponding standards, also in an international context, in order to create benefits for customers, processors and other stakeholders. One increasingly important focus, for example, is the reduction of environmentally harmful influences such as carbon dioxide emissions.

As part of the "Salzgitter AG 2030" strategy with the principle of "Pioneering for Circular Solutions" and „Partnering for Transformation“, Salzgitter AG expects the collaboration with POSCO to permanently strengthen research and development activities, improve the high technological process and product level and further develop the circular economy together with strong partners.
