RAUCH relies on SALCOS®

RAUCH Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH can look back on a 100-year history as a family-owned company now in its fifth generation. As an international manufacturer of fertilizer spreaders, pneumatic seed drills and winter spreaders, RAUCH stands for efficiency and ecology in needs-based plant nutrition.

As a pioneer for quality and innovation, RAUCH has immediately recognized the increasing requirements for sustainable production and thus also the use of sustainable means of production. To reduce the CO2 footprint of its own products, RAUCH Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH is working stringently to reduce the Scope 3 share. This Scope 3 value mainly covers the CO2 emissions generated during the production of the primary material.
Salzgitter-Mannesmann Handel and Salzgitter Flachstahl are long-standing suppliers to the company. From August, RAUCH will be supplied with 150 tons of SALCOS® steel.

The SALCOS® brand is synonymous with Salzgitter Low-CO2-Steelmaking and covers all CO2-reduced products from Salzgitter AG and its Group companies. Instead of the conventional blast furnace route, the steel pre-material is produced via the electric arc furnace route using 100% recycled scrap. This means that the reduction of iron ore using coking coal in the blast furnace process is no longer necessary, resulting in lower CO2 emissions. Overall, this process changeover reduces the CO2 footprint by more than 70% compared to the conventional route.

"An important factor in RAUCH's decision was that the required product properties would not be influenced by changing the process route," says RAUCH Purchasing Manager Benjamin Lutz.
In this way, a forward-looking contribution to CO2 reduction can also be made in agricultural technology.
