CR460LA-GI – New member of a grade family

The family of microalloyed steels has grown at Salzgitter Flachstahl!
With immediate effect, Salzgitter Flachstahl is offering steel with enhanced minimum yield strength of 460 Mpa (in the longitudinal direction), thereby covering the entire range of cold-rolled, microalloyed steels to VDA 239-100.
The new grade CR460LA-GI (to VDA-239-100) corresponds to the HX500LAD grade in accordance with DIN EN 10346 which has also been added to the product range in this process.

The fine strength gradations allow designers or material planners to select exactly the right material for each new component.
For already existing components of microalloyed steels with lower yield strengths (e.g. CR380LA), the CR460LA grade offers corresponding potential for lightweight construction by reducing the thickness of the sheet. This results in savings in material, cost and CO2 emissions.
The potential applications for this steel lie primarily in the structural area of car bodies such as longitudinal beams, cross members and reinforcement parts.
The product is available in a thickness range of 0.5 mm to 2.0 mm as hot-dip galvanized cold strip. In the thickness range from 2.0 mm to 3.0 mm, Salzgitter Flachstahl offers hot-dip galvanized hot strip with the designation HR460LA-GI. The widths currently available in both cases lie between 1000 mm and 1500 mm.
On request, the CR460LA grade is also available with the zinc-magnesium coating StronSal®.
